Outcomes for Children

Children enter the world full of potential and thrive in families, communities and child care programs that offer environments which are nurturing and respectful while providing opportunities for growth and exploration.

Positive, supportive relationships and enriched physical and emotional environments foster children’s well-being and development.

Ensuring that children have access to enriched early learning environments in family day home settings is essential.  Through the building of mutually respectful and caring relationships, our child care professionals create a positive foundation in the day home, significantly contributing to each child’s optimal brain development and overall well-being. Thoughtfully planned, well-equipped, and inviting physical indoor and outdoor environments set the stage for children to experience opportunities that will promote maximum growth and development.

Family Day Home Educators

Davar is dedicated to carrying out a very stringent and diligent process in terms of choosing our family day home educators, who reside in various areas throughout Calgary, Banff, Canmore, Chestermere, High River, Nanton, Okotoks, Airdrie and their surrounding communities. Our educators are thoroughly screened and selected by Davar’s team of child development consultants, keeping in accordance to all Alberta family day home standards. This involves not only a great deal of paperwork in terms of reference letters, criminal record checks, child intervention checks and a medical certification, but also home interviews and a thorough safety study, to determine whether the home environment meets the standards of care and safety.

All approved day homes must meet or exceed the Alberta family day home standards. First and foremost, each educator must display a sincere interest in caring for children.

In order to ensure that the quality of care is met and maintained, approved family day homes are monitored in-person through monthly, unannounced visits. Conducted by our child development consultants, these visits also provide essential guidance, coaching and support for each educator. Additionally, it allows our consultants the wonderful opportunity to build meaningful relationships with your own child.

Davar provides in-service training for all educators and families on a regular basis. Workshops, facilitated by a Davar consultant or by a guest presenter, cover current and relevant topics related to child care and child development. We fully promote the professional development of our educators by providing learning opportunities, resources and support.

Along with the use of agency equipment, such as nap mats, booster seats, baby monitors and safety gates, Davar also provides a variety of learning through play kits, book resource kits as well as a variety of up-to-date resources, promoting current best practices.
